What We Believe GOD: We believe that the God of the Bible is the one true living God, whose divine nature is triune: He is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The only way to receive salvation is to confess Jesus Christ as one's Savior and Lord, to accept His self-sacrifice as atonement for our sins, and to have a personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.
THE BIBLE: We believe the Bible to be the one and only true Word of God, which we accept as our spiritual authority above any religious institution or human doctrine. The Bible is a "God-breathed" revelation given to us by the prophets and the apostles, the principles and promises of which are fulfilled in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
BAPTISM: We follow the biblical practice of baptism by immersion, holding it to be an important public confession of faith, and symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, by whose grace we are born again as children of God.
THE LORD'S SUPPER: We share in a monthly remembrance of the Last Supper, as Jesus ordained it, taking the bread and the cup to be symbols of our Lord's broken body and shed blood. We invite all Christian believers to commune with us in the name of Jesus.
THE CONDITION OF MAN: We believe that all of us are born out of sin, live in sin, and fall short of the Glory of God, though we can be forgiven and saved from eternal death by the grace of our Savior Jesus Christ. THE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH: We believe that Jesus is the Head of the Church, and the members make up a body of Christ on Earth whose purpose is to preach the Gospel and be a Christ-like example of service, love, peace and forgiveness.
THE ROLE OF THE PASTOR: As described in 2 Timothy, a pastor should serve a local congregation through preaching, teaching, encouraging, discipling, directing and correcting, while seeking to equip the members to use their own gifts in ministry.
OUR BAPTIST HERITAGE: As a Baptist congregation, we identify with the traditional Biblical distinctives of Baptists, centered around the God-given liberty of the individual to find God and follow the Scriptures, the liberty of the local congregation from institutional dictates, and the liberty of religion from control by civil government. |
